Starting 2026 with Intention: Highlights from Our First Emerge Event

Emerge April

Our first Emerge: A Program for Young Professionals of 2026 set the tone for an inspiring year ahead. We gathered for an evening focused on thoughtful leadership, meaningful connection, and what it really looks like to show up for your community with intention. Attendees had time to connect before the program began, creating space for both new relationships and familiar faces to engage in energizing conversation.

The evening featured a dynamic panel of Kansas City leaders, including Tammy Martin (Burns & McDonnell), Tyler Harrelson (Centric), and Greg Valdovino (Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce), moderated by Tracey DeMarea (Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce). Together, they shared candid insights on community involvement, speaking to the realities of leadership roles such as time commitments, unexpected challenges, and the importance of aligning opportunities with personal values and career goals.

A key theme throughout the discussion was intentionality. Attendees left with practical guidance on how to assess their capacity, ask the right questions, navigate conflict, and confidently decide when to say yes or no. It was a powerful start to the year and a reminder that strong community leadership begins with clarity and purpose.

Curious about what’s next? The EMERGE series is created by and for emerging professionals in the Chamber community. Join us for upcoming sessions and connect with peers who share your drive to make a difference. Learn more and get involved.
