About Mid-America LGBT

The Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce is a proud affiliate of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and our is to advocate, promote and facilitate the success of the LGBT business community and their allies through the guiding principles of equality, inclusion, economics and education.

Through our shared membership, networking opportunities, and personal and professional development programming, we seek to enhance business opportunities for LGBT businesses, and our allies, and foster a more inclusive and vibrant economy in Kansas City and the surrounding region.

Membership & Corporate Partnerships

The Mid-America LGBT Chamber membership includes over 1,200 active individuals from 300+ organizations, including individual, non-profit, small business, public entities and offices, and corporate members.Our members enjoy access to a number of important benefits and opportunities. As a member, you get access to a variety of programming, professional development, and networking opportunities, as well as free or reduced registration for special events. Additionally, members are provided a customizable directory listing with both free and paid advertising opportunities through Mid America LGBT Chamber publications and events.

Networking & Events

The Mid-America LGBT Chamber offers multiple opportunities to network with other members and our corporate partners, including our monthly B2B Network and Coffee Connections networking events hosted by actual chamber members. We also host other special events, including an annual Business Equality Awards Luncheon where we recognize members who have significantly contributed to the Chamber's mission and progress.

Upcoming Events

Programming & Development

Education is one of the founding principles of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber, which is why we prioritize personal, professional, and community development through educational programming. From one-on-one and group mentoring, supplier diversity training, and individual leadership training, our programming is facilitated by dedicated local leaders and professionals and includes specially curated content and diverse formats.

Programs are available to all members, though may be limited in size and may include an additional program fee.

Metzler Mentor Program

The C. Stephen Metzler Mentor Program exists to provide personal and professional development opportunities to young professionals and create the next generation of leaders in the LGBT community.

The Barnes Leadership Series gives participants the opportunity to learn key leadership skills from the Honorable Kay Barnes, former Kansas City, Missouri Mayor, Distinguished Professor for Public Leadership, & Founding Director at the Center for Leadership at Park University.

Members of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber are eligible for free Supplier Diversity Certification through the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce. Certified LGBT owned businesses qualify for a place on the NGLCC’s national supplier directory of over 400+ certified businesses.
