Andrew (Managing Director) & Michael (Artistic Director) Grayman-Parkhurst
"We moved back to Kansas City (Andrew’s hometown) in 2010 to create a not-for-profit professional theatre company. Shortly after, the curtain went up and Spinning Tree Theatre quickly became a respected arts organization. In our first nine seasons, we’ve produced 33 mainstage productions, including 20 Kansas City premieres. As out gay men producing theatrical works that address issues faced in the LGBTQ community, our programming has included Casa Valentina by Harvey Fierstein; The Nance by Douglas Carter Beane; Girlfriend by Todd Almond and Matthew Sweet; La Cage aux Folles by Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein; and Mothers and Sons by Terrence McNally.
A relatively new constituent member of Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce, Spinning Tree Theatre is proud to represent Kansas City’s diverse business community. It’s an incredible time to be producing contemporary, relevant theatre pieces in the heartland, and we look forward to continuing our company’s growth alongside Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce."
