Tell us a little about your business?

MOC BOD is a one-stop shop for the LGBTQ+ community and our allies to shop, hang out, and receive personal care services in a safe, welcoming space. We started out making gender-free, natural body wash and quickly expanded to open a shop at 55th and Troost in order to provide space for a massage therapist, barber/cosmetologist, and tattoo artist to see clients.

What benefits have you found to being a small business?

By being a small business, we are able to meet clients personally, have great conversations, and build community. We can focus on taking care of our service providers' needs so they can focus on their art.

What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?

We recently celebrated our first anniversary. We had a great turnout, and are humbled and grateful by the community's continued support of our cause.

How can our Chamber members best support your small business?

Please stop in, check the place out, and tell your friends! We greatly appreciate help spreading the word to others.

What would you like our Chamber members to know about your business which isn’t necessarily obvious?

We meticulously source all MOC BOD products, ensuring that we only work with likeminded businesses who focus on doing good in the world.

Our shirts are made by a local company that does fair trade with a factory in Haiti, paying their workers enough to sustain a family of six. Our pronoun badges are sourced from a small business in Ohio that gives back to the LGBTQ+ community and supports ecological causes. Our hats and totes are sourced from a queer-owned business that let me know that our purchases have allowed them to buy Pride flags and distribute them to other businesses in their homophobic town.

Customers can know that by shopping at MOC BOD, their dollars are going to our community and supporters. Representation matters!
