At House Law, every person matters. All of us at House Law--my paralegals, receptionist and I--take pride in obtaining justice and advocating for people who have been injured in trucking and car accidents, by drunk drivers, and in obtaining justice for the families of people killed in motor vehicle accidents.
We focus extensively on representing survivors who have sustained traumatic brain injuries. I have spent most of my career working to protect my clients who have been negligently injured by another person. I also fight to make sure that insurance companies provide the compensation they promised to pay under the insurance policies that they have issued.
My passion for helping injured people began years ago after my cousin was killed in a car accident on I-70 in Kansas City while on her way home from work. Our overarching goal is to give our every one of our clients hope for the future, to let them know that they are seen and have someone who will advocate for them.
What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?
About five years ago, I was retained to represent the family of man killed in a crash caused by a semi-truck. Over those five years, I got to know this man's family, many of whom immigrated here from South America. I've been able to get to know his young daughter, to watch her become a young woman growing up as a minority without a father in our country.
After litigating this case for years, on the eve of trial, we were obtain to obtain a settlement for this family, and for this young woman. Although nothing--no amount of compensation will ever make up for the losing a loved one in a crash--this settlement has made her burden a bit lighter and will help her continue her education, and I can't wait to see the person she continues to become.
What do you love most about being part of this chamber?
I love the people I've been able to meet...a few of whom have become very good friends.
