Tell us about the mission of your non-profit
The Kansas City Artists Coalition (KCAC) is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to supporting artists, connecting communities, and strengthening Kansas City’s creative ecosystem. Founded by artists in 1975, KCAC has remained deeply rooted in the belief that artists deserve space, resources, and opportunities to create, exhibit, collaborate, and grow.
For nearly 50 years, KCAC has served as a welcoming hub for artists and art lovers across the region. Through exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, networking events, publications, and community partnerships, KCAC creates opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers while making contemporary art accessible to the broader public. Our galleries showcase a wide range of voices and perspectives, with a strong commitment to local and regional artists.
KCAC is proud to be a grassroots organization built through collaboration, creativity, and community support. We believe that art has the power to bring people together, spark conversation, and help build a more vibrant, inclusive Kansas City. Whether someone is visiting an exhibition, taking a workshop, purchasing artwork, volunteering, or becoming a member, they are helping sustain a creative community where artists can thrive.
What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?
This August, KCAC turns 50 and we’re celebrating big! For half a century, we’ve been championing artists, sparking creativity, and helping shape Kansas City’s vibrant arts scene. This milestone is a joyful tribute to the incredible artists, members, volunteers, and supporters who have made KCAC what it is today. We’re honored to carry this legacy forward and can’t wait to see what the next 50 years of creativity will bring!
What do you love most about being part of this Chamber?
At KCAC, we believe art has the power to help us explore our humanity, see and be seen in new ways, and spark meaningful change. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is central to who we are as an organization. Being a member of the LGBT+ Chamber is another way we stand by that commitment while connecting with a community that shares our values and commitment.
How can our Chamber and members best support and be involved with your non-profit?
There are so many ways to jump in and be part of KCAC. Come by an exhibition, sign up for a workshop and try something new, or find a piece of art that speaks to you and take it home. You can also become a member, volunteer at events, or help us spread the word about what we’re doing. However you choose to show up, you’re helping support local artists and keep Kansas City’s creative community thriving.
