Year founded:

Tell us a little about your business:
I currently operate Full Circle as well as act as the sole End-of-Life Doula and Grief Coach. I am a former hospice nurse and realized there was a gap in support for my patients so I didn't to bridge it. I provide end-of-life planning at every age, provide respite for caregivers, hold educational workshops, collaborate with hospice providers, assist with legacy project, help create Savoring the Seven lists, facilitate family discussions regarding wishes, advocate for clients and their chosen family, and support loved ones and clients at the end of their journey on earth.
What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?
I published a book and all profits go to a fund to assist in the offset of costs to provide EoL doula services and outreach to those in the KC community that are underserved, underrepresented or underprivileged. I'm currently in the middle of collaborating with a lead therapist to publish a caregiver's self-care workbook utilizing DBT skills to use the profits for the same cause. I also developed an app for EoL doulas for record keeping and documentation called DoulaWorks as well as a sister app for caregivers (CareSupport) to access local and national resources, podcasts, private journal and photo album of the client.
What do you love most about being part of this chamber?
The ability to show my support for the LGBTQ+ community and feel empowered to be a part of the community that I finally came out as belonging to later in life at the age of 37.
What would you like our chamber members to know about your business which isn’t necessarily obvious?
Although many believe an end-of-life doula is for the actual end of life, there's a lot more to it. I work with college students to establish an advance directive so that their parents (or those of their choosing) can act on their behalf if anything should happen to them while away at college. I work with new parents who want to plan for their children's futures. I work with parents of special needs children to ensure their children are taken care of with as much normalcy intact as possible and not end up as a ward of the state due to no clear legal direction from the parents. I work with people who have been diagnosed with a life-altering condition that may take away their ability to speak, act in a lucid manner, or memory to create meaningful legacy projects before their condition progresses. I do, however, also provide care at the end of the journey too. I focus on the client and the caregiver so that the death may be as positive as possible and ensure wishes are honored. I also provide education to the client and their loved ones so that fear of the unknown can be alleviated.
