Square Peg Marketing + Branding

Tell us a little about your business:

At Square Peg Marketing + Branding, we pride ourselves on being a little … different. Led by Kim Kramer, we’re not your typical marketing agency. We don’t just churn out campaigns and call it a day. Instead, we dig deep into the story behind your brand, combining analytical rigor with creative storytelling that makes an impact. Numbers tell a story, and so do people — and we’re experts at reading both.

Our approach is rooted in curiosity. We ask questions, we probe, we analyze — and then we translate what we discover into messaging, visuals, and strategies that feel authentic, engaging, and memorable. Every campaign we craft is part data, part intuition, and all heart. Because marketing without meaning is just noise …

… and we don’t do noise.

Restaurants and hyper-local businesses are where we do our best work. We understand what makes people choose you and what keeps them coming back. From law firms and landscapers to home builders and healthcare providers, we know how to turn everyday excellence into brands that stand out.

Dare we say, restaurants are where our marketing savvy really shines. We get diners, busy nights, tight margins, and the power of reputation. It’s not just logos and menus. It’s the experience, the story, and the reason people keep talking long after the last bite.

Meanwhile, local businesses love us because we get their world. We love them because helping them become community staples is the best part of the job.

Owner Kim Kramer sets the tone for everything we do. Her leadership blends strategic insight with creative courage, and she’s the kind of person who sees patterns in spreadsheets the same way she sees opportunities in campaigns. Under her guidance, Square Peg has built a reputation for being both precise and playful, analytical and adventurous, serious and irreverent — all at the same time.

We truly believe marketing should be smart, yes — but also fun. Square Peg champions the quirky, the bold, the ambitious, and the unapologetically KC. Local brands that refuse to fit the mold? That’s our sweet spot. Local businesses that need to cut through all the clutter? Even better.

Whether through analytical storytelling, creative visual campaigns, or discovering the next perfect bistro, Square Peg approaches every project with energy, insight, and a healthy dose of humor. For brands that want to stand out, connect deeply, and tell their story with precision (and a wink), Square Peg is ready to make it happen.

What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?

Fun fact: Square Peg has been named Best Ad Agency by The Pitch three years in a row, and that recognition speaks volumes to how we approach our work. We don’t just create moments, we build momentum.

That mindset was on full display with the first ever “Meat & Greet” at Blind Box BBQ featuring Chiefs star Rashee Rice. While the event itself was a hit, it was really one piece of a larger NIL partnership designed to extend reach and create lasting brand impact.

From wall-to-wall media coverage to strong social traction, the activation quickly snowballed, generating nearly a million impressions and turning a beloved local BBQ spot into a national conversation. Our team handled everything from coordinating social media influencers to on-site execution, making sure every fan interaction, photo op, and detail landed seamlessly. (Heck, we even helped secure confetti cannons … because confetti cannons.)

The result was an incredible turnout, electric energy, and a brand moment that felt authentic and celebratory. Guests left buzzing, Rashee left smiling, and Blind Box gained nationwide attention.

More than an autograph signing, it was a community driven moment and a clear example of what happens when smart strategy meets a little Square Peg flair.

What do you love most about being part of this Chamber?

What we love most about being part of MALGBTCC is the people. The members are kind, gracious, and genuinely welcoming, which makes every interaction feel meaningful. This isn’t just a chamber that supports LGBTQ-owned businesses — it champions them, celebrates them, and creates a space where they can truly thrive. We’re proud to be part of an organization that doesn’t just advocate, but leads with heart, inclusivity, and real impact.

What would you like our Chamber members to know about your business which isn’t necessarily obvious?

Most people know us for clever campaigns and restaurant love — but what they don’t know is that we’re a fiercely female-centric, female-owned team who believe in unapologetic girl power. We run on equal parts strategy, storytelling, and espresso, with brainstorming sessions fueled by tacos and spontaneous karaoke breaks. Basically, we take marketing seriously — but ourselves? Not so much. And somehow, it works ... you know, as long as snacks are readily available at all times.
