Tell us about the mission of your non-profit:
SAVE, Inc. provides comprehensive housing solutions to empower socially and medically disadvantaged people to improve their health and lead stable lives with dignity.
What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?
We recently opened 10 overnight shelter beds to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ young adults (18-24). We were able to do so by securing our largest ever one time foundation gift and by creating a contract with the City for Low Barrier Shelter services that covers about have the operational cost.
What do you love most about being part of the Chamber?
I love being able to connect with other members who care deeply about creating a safe and equitable community for people identifying as LGBTQ+ to live.
What would you like our Chamber members to know about your non-profit?
We have 3 primary areas of emphasis:
1. Using the proven strategy of housing people to:
1. Prevent the transmission of HIV, a $2.8M effort.
2. Intervene early with young adults to prevent the onset of severe and persistent mental illness, other negative health outcomes, and even early death, a $1.5 M effort.
3. End street homelessness for those living with severe and persistent mental illness, a $5.9M effort.
A majority of these funds are federal and require us to raise $1.2M in matching funds to continue receiving them. Pictured are Young adult clients who's lives have been saved through housing. CEO Patrick is featured in one photo at the annual Gala with Barbie, a former client who is now self-sufficient and working full time in KC's efforts to end homelessness.
How can our Chambers best support and be involved with your non-profit?
SAVE, Inc. would love to host your company’s employees as volunteers with our programs, mentors with our clients, and guests at our Gala with your corporate sponsorship. With the recent attack on LGBTQ+ centering programs, we need more community support than ever to ensure everyone has a home and a sense of belonging.
