On Thursday, June 26, the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce proudly accepted a Pride Month proclamation from the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners. The proclamation recognizes June 2025 as Pride Month and celebrates the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals, professionals, and businesses to the region’s economic and cultural vitality.

Chairman Mike Kelly and the full Commission called on residents to celebrate our diverse community and to continue fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and acceptance. The proclamation also highlighted the courage of those who have fought for LGBTQ+ rights and reaffirmed Johnson County’s commitment to justice and full equality.

We were deeply honored that the Commission specifically acknowledged the work of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce in advancing business equality. Our President Kate Nielsen accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Chamber, joined by Board Member Zach Rose-Heim, Vice President Jay Bohanon, and Executive Director Tracey DeMarea.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Chairman Kelly and the entire Johnson County Commission for their leadership and partnership. Together, we continue working toward a future where diversity is celebrated not just in June, but every day of the year.
