Tell us about the mission of your non-profit:

The Alzheimer's Association mission is to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia by accelerating research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. Its vision is a world without Alzheimer's and other dementias.

What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?

The FDA has cleared Roche’s Elecsys pTau181 plasma test, the first blood-based biomarker test for Alzheimer’s disease approved for use in primary care. The test is designed to rule out amyloid pathology, not diagnose Alzheimer’s, and is intended for adults 55+ with cognitive symptoms. By identifying patients unlikely to have amyloid plaques, it helps avoid unnecessary advanced tests like PET scans or spinal fluid analysis, streamlining referrals and improving efficiency. The Alzheimer’s Association emphasizes appropriate use alongside clinical judgment and recently published guidelines for blood biomarker testing. This development, combined with ongoing research investments, marks progress toward better diagnostic tools and treatments.

How can our Chambers best support and be involved with your non-profit?

Chambers can best support us by helping raise awareness—through initiatives like Lunch & Learn sessions, educational programs on Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and caregiver support workshops that empower families and individuals of all ages. Alzheimer’s and other dementias can affect any family, and we want to be there to support people when their loved ones or friends are impacted. Your involvement can also include sharing resources with members, promoting volunteer opportunities, and partnering on community events. Together, we can amplify awareness, deliver inclusive and accessible education, and create meaningful opportunities for engagement. Thank you for helping us strengthen our shared commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community health.
