Solicitation For Board Candidates

The Mid-America Chamber of Commerce is soliciting candidates for the upcoming Board-of-Directors election. The terms are two years and begin on January 1st, 2026.

Applications are open to any member in good standing. To be considered applications must be received by October 16th, 2025. 

The Chamber invites all those interested in board service to apply. We also seek to have a board that represents our broader community. We value the backgrounds and perspectives that each individual can bring and do not make board appointment decisions based on any demographic category or protected characteristic. We have a particular interest in candidates who work in:
  • Corporate
  • Healthcare
  • Small business sectors
With backgrounds in
  • Executive leadership
  • Marketing/communications
  • Fundraising/sponsorship

The Committee

In accordance with our Bylaws, the Nominations Committee is composed of both board and non-board members, and is chaired by the Vice President of the Chamber. This structure ensures a balanced and fair review of all applicants.

The Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed using a blind evaluation process, meaning the Committee will not have access to applicants’ personal details. Instead, reviews will focus solely on professional experience, expertise, and responses to the open-ended application questions.

  • Each Committee member will provide structured feedback and rank the applications individually.

  • The Committee will then meet to discuss the evaluations collectively, identify candidates for interviews, and recommend a slate of applicants for Board approval.

The Chamber’s Mission

The Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce mission is to advocate, promote, and facilitate the success of the LGBTQ+ business community. The Chamber's purpose is to create, identify and enhance business opportunities for LGBTQ+ and LGBTQ+ friendly organizations, thereby fostering a more equitable, inclusive, and vibrant economy in Kansas City and the Mid-America region.
