Impact Partner Spotlight: Renew Your Workplace

Year founded:

Renew Your Workplace wasn’t always called that. It actually started in 2018 under the name Intellego, which is Latin for "realize." The goal was simple: help people and teams realize their potential through leadership development, mostly using CliftonStrengths and focusing on belonging at work.

But the more I worked with different organizations, the more I realized the issues ran deeper. People were struggling with hiring, support, communication, and everything in between. That shift in focus led to a rebrand and a big move. In August 2024, we became Renew Your Workplace and relocated from Seattle to Kansas City.

Tell us about your business:

At its core, Renew Your Workplace is about helping organizations create a workplace people actually want to be part of. We help build places where people feel supported, valued, and maybe even excited about their jobs.

Most of the organizations we work with are small to mid-sized and don’t have a full HR team. Some are growing quickly and need structure fast. Others have been winging it and are finally ready to get organized. That's where we come in.

Sometimes we write policies or create handbooks. Other times we coach managers, rebuild onboarding, or tackle whatever is making people leave. We cover both the people side and the paperwork side so you can grow without chaos.

We are hands-on partners. We don’t just offer advice and vanish. We help implement the changes and stay around to make sure things actually work. Whether it’s helping a new manager get their footing or making the hiring process less confusing, we are all about removing the nonsense and making things better.

We believe work should matter. People should feel like they belong and that their efforts count. And we are here to help make that happen.

What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?

One of my favorite success stories is a project we landed with Sound Transit, the regional transit authority in Seattle. But the cool part is how it happened.

In early 2020, just before the world flipped upside down, I partnered with another company, Career Therapy, to go after an RFP. Sound Transit was looking for support around leadership and employee development. We submitted our proposal and felt good about it. Then the pandemic hit and everything froze.

In the fall of 2024, they reopened the search. We jumped back in with more experience and a better understanding of what we could offer. This time, we got it!

Now we are working with them through a multi-year agreement to support both employees and managers with personal and professional development. We are not just delivering workshops. We are helping people feel confident, capable, and connected in their roles.

Another quick win was solidifying a partnership with 34Strong, a company based in southern California, to allow Renew Your Workplace to partner with any size organization on their workplace culture transformation journey.

What do you love most about being part of this Chamber?

I am genuinely excited to be part of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce. When I lived in Seattle, I was involved with the LGBTQ chamber there, and it was one of the most encouraging and supportive communities I had ever experienced.

It wasn’t just about networking or handing out business cards. It felt like home. A space where I could show up as a whole person, both professionally and personally.

What I appreciated most was the way people lifted each other up. There was no weird competitive energy. Just good people doing good work and cheering each other on. I want to build that same kind of community here in Kansas City.

Now that I am rebuilding my local network, this already feels like the right move. It is not just about finding clients or growing a business. It is about finding your people and building something that feels good to be part of.

What would you like our Chamber members to know about your business which isn’t necessarily obvious?

One of the things I love most about the LGBTQ business community is that we do things differently. We understand what it feels like to be overlooked or underestimated, and we build with care because of it.

That is the same energy I bring into every client relationship. Collaborative, thoughtful, and focused on making work better for everyone. We all deserve to operate businesses where people feel respected, seen, and excited to show up.

If you are reading this and wondering if we could work together, let me just say this: I can empathize with you on how personal this stuff is. When you’ve built something from scratch, it can be hard to let someone else step in and look under the hood.

But you don’t have to feel embarrassed or overwhelmed. If your HR setup is messy or unfinished, you are in good company. Most of us didn’t start our businesses because we were passionate about handbooks or creating clear expectations for employees.

That is where we come in. We help make sense of the people side of your business. Whether it is onboarding, compliance, management coaching, or just figuring out how to support your team better, we can help.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Just being curious is enough. We can start the conversation and see what makes sense for you and your business.
