The Ally Journey is the Chamber’s series of micro-learning sessions designed to help individuals build on their understanding of LGBTQ+ topics in a supportive, interactive environment.
- Each 30-minute virtual session dives into popular and specific subjects, with an additional 10–15 minutes dedicated to answering questions.
- Chamber members benefit from the LGBT Foundations program free of charge, with affordable rates for both members and non-members for our Extended Learning offerings.
- Participants must complete our LGBT Foundations program before attending any Extended Learning sessions.
These live sessions are not recorded to encourage open dialogue and active participation, and all participants will receive connections to valuable community resources.
LGBT Foundations
Designed as an entry point for learning, this session introduces the core concepts behind the LGBT acronym and explores why pronouns matter. Ideal for anyone beginning their journey toward inclusive practices.
Learners will gain an understanding for:
- The difference between gender identity and sexual identity.
- The importance of using correct pronouns.
- And will practice introducing and sharing their own pronouns with others.
This class is included as a benefit for Chamber members; non-members are welcome to join for $35.
Extended Learning
These classes are $35 for Chamber members, and $65 for non-members.
Pronouns – Why, What and How
Pronouns matter—this session breaks down why. Learn how to use them respectfully, create space for others to share theirs, and build confidence in making your workplace more inclusive, one conversation at a time.
This session will cover:
- Why do pronouns matter?
- What are pronouns?
- How to implement using pronouns in the workplace?
- How to ask for someone’s pronouns?
- Participants will practice and receive tools.
Learners will gain an understanding for:
- What a pronoun is and common use cases
- How to use pronouns in a respectful manner
- Why correct use of pronouns can lead to a more inclusive environment
- Learners will practice using their own pronouns and asking for others’ pronouns
Supporting Your TGX Workforce
Join us for a practical and empowering session on creating inclusive workplaces for TGX (transgender, gender non-conforming, and nonbinary) employees. Learn what meaningful support looks like in everyday actions, policies, and workplace culture.
This session will cover:
- What is TGX?
- In what ways can we support the TGX workforce, including specific behaviors and policies?
- Participants will learn about resources and guides.
Learners will gain an understanding for:
- Definitions of TGX, transgender, gender non-conforming, and nonbinary.
- Tools to support TGX colleagues.
- Identifying common policies that can harm TGX employees
LGBTQ+ 101
Curious about the language we use around gender and sexuality? This session breaks down key LGBTQ+ terms, explores how they’ve evolved, and offers clear, respectful ways to talk about identity in today’s workplace.
This session will cover:
- What does LGBTQ+ mean?
- Why have we arrived at these terms?
- What is ‘cis’ and what is ‘trans’?
The learners will gain an understanding in:
- What the letters in the acronym: LGBTQ+ mean.
- Being able to demonstrate an ability to use the acronym appropriately.
- The difference between the terms "cis" and "trans" as it relates to gender identity.
Working Towards Allyship & Action
Being an ally goes beyond good intentions. This session explores what active allyship looks like in the workplace—and equips participants with real steps they can take to support inclusion and equity every day.
This session will cover:
- What does it mean to be an ally?
- What actions do allies take?
- Participants will receive tangible steps and resources.
The learners will gain an understanding in:
- What it means to be an ally.
- What being an ally looks/sounds like.
- Identify one to two next steps they will take in the workplace.
